Asparagus Pee
Some people aren’t lucky enough to have the gene which makes the enzyme that breaks down mercaptan. We’re not sure, but those people are probably also communists. The news is not new that asparagus makes your pee smelly funky. We looked up why: Asparagus contains some type of sulfur compound called mercaptan. Mercaptan is the same compound that is made by skunks, but apparantly has nothing to do with skunky beer. The actual smell is made when it is broken down in our digestive systems. We’ll be on the look out for some other foods that make your pee stink, or better yet, change color. Let us know if you think of some.
